This service currently costs $2400 (plus birth supplies) and includes:
An initial consultation to get to know each other, learn more about your pregnancy and discuss informed disclo-sure, scope of practice and financials.
Regular prenatal visits and exams, every 4 weeks until week 28, bi-weekly from week 28 through week 36 and weekly until your birth.
Unscheduled visits as needed, for reasons such as you aren’t feeling well or you have a specific concern or issue that requires immediate attention.
Referrals to nurse-midwives, physicians or other health care providers for consultation or further testing if the need arises during your prenatal period.
Childbirth education, either privately or in group classes. Classes can also be incorporated into your regular prenatal visits if you desire.
Care during your labor and birth: I will come to your home when you are in labor, monitor you and your baby for problems, offer suggestions for coping & relaxation techniques and help you (or your partner) catch your baby.
A second fully-trained midwife to assist us at your birth.
Immediate & ongoing postpartum care: I will remain after your birth for a minimum of 3 hours to ensure you and your baby are stable and help you with breastfeeding. I will return to check on you within 24 hours and then visit you every day for five days. After that we see each other once or twice a week until you are fully recovered, usually within 4-6 weeks after the birth.
All newborn exams and state-required screenings, copies of which are provided for your pediatrician.
Assistance with obtaining your baby's Birth Certificate.
Placenta processing and encapsulation. (See bottom of Services page for more information.)
Telephone support during your pregnancy and during your postpartum recovery.
Any necessary billing or paperwork that may be needed for your insurance company. (Unfortunately, very few insurance companies cover home birth, but we can try.)
